Description

The Huawei Smart Dongle 4G is a cellular communication module that connects Huawei inverters to the FusionSolar monitoring platform via 2G, 3G, and 4G mobile networks. It is designed for photovoltaic installations where no fixed internet connection (Ethernet or Wi-Fi) is available near the inverter.

The module connects via plug-and-play to the USB port of a compatible inverter . Once the mini-SIM card (15 x 25 mm) is inserted and the dongle is powered by the inverter, a cellular connection is automatically established to the FusionSolar servers. Production and consumption data (if a DTSU666 meter is connected), as well as system alerts, are then transmitted in real time to the FusionSolar web portal and mobile app.

The dongle supports 4G FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE, 3G WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSPA+, and 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE standards , ensuring connectivity in areas with uneven network coverage. The automatic reconnection mechanism restores the connection after a temporary signal interruption, without manual intervention.

With an IP65 protection rating, dimensions of 130 x 48 x 33 mm, and a weight of 90 g, the Smart Dongle 4G remains attached to the UPS without altering the footprint of the electrical box or cabinet. Its typical power consumption of 3.5 W is drawn directly from the UPS's USB power supply.

The Smart Dongle 4G is compatible with the following inverters:

  • SUN2000-(2KTL-6KTL)-L1

  • SUN2000-(3KTL-20KTL)-M0

  • SUN2000-(3KTL-12KTL)-M1

  • SUN2000-(8KTL-20KTL)-M2

  • SUN2000-(20KTL -40KTL)-M3

  • SUN2000-50KTL/60KTL/65KTL-M0

It also supports third-party monitoring systems, subject to protocol compatibility with the Huawei SmartDongle.

KEY POINTS FOR PROFESSIONALS

  • Multi-band cellular communication : 4G FDD-LTE/TDD-LTE, 3G WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA/HSPA+, 2G GSM/GPRS/EDGE, for extended network coverage.

  • Plug-and-play installation on the inverter's USB port, without additional wiring or intermediate box.

  • Automatic reconnection after signal loss, limiting monitoring interruptions.

  • IP65 protection rating , suitable for outdoor environments and non-watertight technical rooms.

  • Compact size: 130 x 48 x 33 mm, 90 g, the module attaches directly to the inverter without additional bulk.

  • Typical power consumption of 3.5 W , powered via the inverter's USB port.

  • Mini-SIM card (15 x 25 mm) to be provided by the installer, free choice of mobile operator.

  • Compatible with the SUN2000-KTL-M0 residential (3 to 10 kW), commercial (12 to 20 kW) ranges and the SUN2000-60KTL-M0.

  • Support for third-party monitoring systems subject to protocol compatibility.

  • Operating temperature range from -30 °C to +65 °C , maximum altitude of 4,000 m.

  • LED indicator Facade for quick visual diagnosis of connection status.

  • CE certification.

  • Manufacturer's note: For stable data transmission, Huawei recommends installing the 4G dongle in areas where the mobile signal is stable (minimum 4 bars of 2G signal, minimum 3 bars of 3G/4G signal).

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS

  • Residential installations where the home Wi-Fi network does not cover the location of the inverter (isolated garage, remote technical room, unserviced attic).

  • Commercial and industrial rooftops without local network infrastructure near the inverter or connection box.

  • Ground -mounted power plants and photovoltaic canopies where the deployment of a wired or Wi-Fi network would be disproportionate to the cost of a 4G connection.

  • Agrivoltaic projects in rural areas with mobile coverage but no fixed internet connection.

  • Sites under operation and maintenance (O&M) contract requiring real-time alert reporting to a monitoring portal.

  • Replacement or supplement of a Smart Dongle WLAN on a site where the Wi-Fi connection is unstable or has insufficient range.

ADDED VALUE POWR CONNECT

POwR Connect We distribute the Huawei Smart Dongle 4G with availability and fast delivery throughout mainland France. Our sales engineers guide installers in choosing between the 4G dongle (Smart Dongle-4G) and the WLAN dongle (Smart Dongle-WLAN) based on network coverage and existing infrastructure at each site.

For projects involving multiple inverters, our team assists with planning the number of dongles required and verifying compatibility with the deployed inverter models.
